Dumpster Diving For Rare Mahogany

What do you do when you see old wooden window frames being ripped out and thrown in a skip? Go dumpster diving of course!

We found a stash of extremely rare Brazilian mahogany being tossed out and we just had to rescue it. We stripped back the old 1970s glossy varnish to reveal a beautiful tight grained hardwood with a beautiful reddish hue.

What to do next…?

Ammo Box Storage Stool

We’re absolutely in love with this wee creation. The beautifully frivolous vintage cotton Paisley fabric contrasts the industrial nature of the steel ammunition crate, especially with the wonderful patina.

Welcome To My Journal

A Warm Welcome From The Upcycled Man

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my new website. I thought it was about time to dedicate my work to the one platform and create a hub of “upcycledness” (I just made that word up so don’t go stealing it haha)

I have devoted the last 3 years of my life in this project to see how far my creative thinking could take me with bringing most objects back to life and creating new stuff from almost anything. What i realised very quickly was the unlimited resources that surrounds us and the unlimited possibilities into creating something so unique.

As much as I like to think I have mastered the art of upcycling, that will never be completed thankfully (a bit like painting the Forth Rail Bridge) but one thing is for sure I am learning another trade and that is web building so bare with me.

Over the coming months I will be using this journal to document my findings. Using this as my therapy diary in my creations and develop it from there.

I will do my atmost best to utilize my social media platforms to build on an already established community and hopefully you will be able to join me on this journey here in “The Upcycled Journal.”

Have a browse around the structure of the site and I always appreciate feedback from anyone who has any suggestions to improve the experience. Also keep an eye out in our online shop section as with most upcycling these pieces are unique and are first come first serve basis.
